The cathedral stands on one side of the Main
Square, in the center of Lima with a mix of baroque, gothic and pure colonial
style. An interesting fact is that it has been founded on an Inca temple
dedicated to the powerful puma. The inside, remarkable for the woodworking and
the paintings around the naves, is worth seeing. There is a tale in which Francisco Pizarro
remains conquistador of High Peru and winner of the Inca Empire; this would be
hidden in the chapel to the right of the nave.
